It’s 2023 and our world is still recovering from the pandemic. This has undoubtedly been the most difficult chapter of high school years in recent history – and you are living it. Please know, you are not alone. You may be behind in classes, or have lost track of what you’re supposed to do to graduate. Or high school graduation may feel impossible today, when it felt probable just a couple years ago. Whatever you’re feeling, it’s legitimate, and more importantly, we can work with it!

Whatever you are struggling with, life can get better, when you reach out for help. You won’t be facing troubles alone. We know numerous people in our area just like you who have healed from challenges with mental health, and we have laid stepping stones out for you to walk on.
Buckeye is a judgment-free zone. In our safe, public, free high school we prioritize the whole person and provide support for every learning style. We partner with a wide range of support services for mental health to ensure our students thrive. Wherever you are in your high school journey, we meet you there. Your whole health, including your mental health, is important to us. Our doors are always open - that’s why we have year-round enrollment. Join us anytime.
Humans Need Each Other - It’s Natural
As a human in this wild world, you are an important part of a larger community and it’s part of human nature to need support. All of your teachers and support staff at Buckeye care more for you than you will ever know. Many of us have been in similar situations, and we made it through with the help of friends and professionals – now it’s our turn to be here for you.
Even better than our personal experience, is the training all BCS staff has received for identifying and supporting mental health issues in our students. And we have formed partnerships and relationships all over our community so we can offer expertise and assistance. We are ready to support you however we can!
What is Mental Health?
Mental health is defined as a state of well-being in which you can cope with the normal stresses of life, actualize your abilities, work productively and are able to make a contribution to your community.

Trained counselors staff the CareLine 24 hours a day, 7 days/week. We offer confidential support for Ohioans who are experiencing stress, anxiety, fear, sadness, and loneliness.

How to Know if You or Someone You Know Needs Help?
Mental health is a big topic, and it’s not always easy to identify on your own. Sometimes life throws curve balls and you find yourself in a situation you don’t know what to do with. Stress, depression, and struggles can come as a surprise. If you’re in it, you may need help to identify the problem before you can do something about it.
Here is a list of common signs that you or a loved one may be suffering with mental health challenges:
Sleeping problems
Change in appetite
Mood changes (rapid changes or mood not changing)
Struggling with excessive fear
Physical signs of stress
Relationships are fraying
Easily irritated
Behavior is changing considerably
