Meet Principal Richard Quisenberry
Our staff at Buckeye Community School (BCS) is filled with people who care deeply about helping you create a bright future for yourself and your community. Who has made the biggest difference in your life so far? At BCS, it’s our goal to create a better future by making a real difference in the lives of our students.
We have a team of exceptional Principals and Vice Principals committed to our mission here at BCS, so we decided to interview these leaders and help you get to know them better. First up is our Principal at the London Buckeye Community School, Richard Quisenberry.
Who was your favorite teacher and why?
My favorite teacher was Dr. Patasky at Rio Grande University. When I ended up on academic probation my first year of college, he went before the board of education, told them that he saw my potential, and to give me a second chance. I saw that he invested in me so I wanted to show him I could be successful. I was on the Dean's list from that point on.
How does the BCS mission and vision align with your personal values?
I believe a school should build a community that invests in others and helps each individual become the best version of themselves. At BCS, every person is unique and is given the opportunity to experience success in a non-traditional environment with a staff that cares about the whole individual.
What do you love most about your role?
I love the opportunity to help develop future leaders who will continue to invest in others.
When did you know you wanted to be an educator/ principal?
After 24 years of being a special education teacher, I was looking for an opportunity to make a greater impact with teachers and students. I earned my principal licensure from Wright State University.
What else would you like us to know about you?
I am a lifetime learner that continues to work on becoming the best version of myself. My greatest asset in life is my family and one of my goals is that I continually invest in the next generation through education, observation, and conversation.
